Jennifer Waldern – Co-Managing Director (President)
Jennifer is a technical creative, humanist and visionary leader whose involvements are diverse. She is enthusiastic to hit the ground running with GIT Vancouver having concluded her first 4 years in the technical industry. She is an Enterprise Analytics Data Analyst and Report Developer at SAP with a background leading global business intelligence projects within Development Operations. Jennifer graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc. in Computer Science. It is Jennifer’s sixth year engaging with Vancouver’s community of female technologists, striving to increase the number of women in tech related fields. She has played an integral role in driving the creation of UBC-SAP-GIRLsmarts4tech, a workshop for girls that has run globally for three years. Jennifer is also a nationally competitive synchronized swimmer with the Vancouver Masters Synchro Club, and a vocalist who recently joined the Vancouver Pops Orchestral Choir. She expresses herself creatively as often as possible, through writing and, most recently, portrait drawing.
Ghislaine Chan – Co-Managing Director
Ghislaine is a business technology leader from Vancouver with 18 years of industry experience in financial services. Currently the Vice President of Applications Development, she leads the Wealth Management technology teams at Broadridge. She specializes in business development and technology-intensive projects in either a start-up environment or an established global corporation. She is involved in developing new financial products, on-boarding new clients, and implementing operational excellence. Ghislaine is also the Co-Managing Director of Girls in Tech Vancouver, a non-profit which supports and encourages young women to stay in technology. Ghislaine graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor in Computer Science. She is most passionate about people leadership and talent development.
Elaine Ho – Secretary
Elaine is excited to leverage her experiences in the tech industry to help preserve and grow the momentum of women in this sector! As the Board Project Manager and Logistics Director, Elaine handles all-things administrative related to keep the team on track. Her goal is to ensure the operations are running smoothly so that the team can focus on providing valuable experiences for their members. Outside of Girls in Tech, Elaine is currently a Project Coordinator at Vision Critical in their Support Operations team. Previously, she worked at SAP in project and product management roles, learning lots about agile development and product enablement. Elaine graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business with a double specialization in Marketing and Business Technology Management. She is an avid volunteer in the community with leadership positions in both the Richmond Community Foundation and the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Away from the desk, Elaine enjoys indulging in sushi, exploring the outdoors, and working out!

Shannon O’Byrne – Program & Event Manager
Shannon is the new Events Manager for the Girls in Tech Vancouver team. With a background in community engagement and event planning, Shannon is looking to utilize her prior experience to create inclusive events that educate and empower women who are passionate about technology. As the Event Manager, Shannon works with a dedicated team of event coordinators to strategize, plan and execute all events on behalf of the Girls in Tech Vancouver Chapter. In 2019, our team is excited to execute Girls in Tech Vancouver’s signature Hackathon. In addition, we will be launching our highly anticipated Mentorship program, fall 2019.Outside of Girls in Tech, Shannon is a communications and engagement professional that specializes in event production and management, building and implementing digital content strategies and the development of communication material for internal and external audiences. When she is not working, Shannon enjoys spending time in the mountains, playing soccer or spending quality time with friends and family.
Eunice Cao – Marketing Lead (Digital)
Eunice is a Marketing professional with a background in analytics and graduated from Simon Fraser University. She is passionate about generating creative solutions with insights from data to solve business problems. As the Digital Marketing Lead, Eunice is looking to leverage her experience in creating content, managing a digital community, and analyzing data to help create a website where Girls in Tech members can access the information they need to thrive in male-dominated industries. On her spare time, she loves going on adventures – be it local food adventures or traveling to a new city!
Oleena Mak – Marketing Lead (Community)
Oleena is a creative marketer specializing in the industry of FinTech and B2B SaaS products. With her experience in event management, community engagement and partnership development, Oleena is utilizing her skills to lead community marketing at Girls in Tech. She is responsible for building a stronger community and affiliate relationships, and expanding the ecosystem of Girls in Tech’s network in Vancouver. After holding a graduate degree in Fashion Communications and switching into financial technology, Oleena is passionate about giving a voice to underrepresented women and empowering them in male-dominated or technical industries. She is currently a Marketing Specialist at Finn AI where she leads events and sponsorship relationships to expand and build brand awareness of the organization in target geographic regions.
Nina Tsou – Social Media Strategist (Lead)
Emily Hon – Event Coordinator
Emily is a new event coordinator and hackathon lead for Girls in Tech Vancouver. She is passionate about engaging local students interested in the tech field and helping to create a warm, supportive community. Emily graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s in applied science (chemical engineering). It was during her undergraduate degree when she became the director of nwHacks, the largest hackathon in Western Canada. When she first joined the team, the tech world was a mystery to her and as she got more involved, she was inspired at the amount of talent, drive, and ingenuity her peers exhibited. After she graduated from chemical engineering, she decided to enroll in the computer science second degree program at UBC. Through Girls in Tech, Emily aims to further develop a sense of comradery in the community to inspire others to find their passion in this field.
Klarissa Munz – Membership Experience Lead / Event Coordinator
Klarissa works with the Girls in Tech Events team. She has a varied background in web development, research and branding, with an emphasis throughout her career on female-focused projects. She is excited to work alongside a community of women who are passionate about technology. She feels particularly strongly about the Mentorship Program, which will seek to partner those new to the industry with experienced mentors who can guide and advise. Outside of work, Klarissa loves comedy and cooking with friends and family.
